For writers & storybuilders · Mac source beta
Your story.
Your world.
Your own.
Some stories need more than a blank page.
Make room for the people, places, possibilities
and words that make yours.

01Free on Mac, forever.
02Open source.
03Yours, offline.
One story. Room for every part of it.
A little structure.
A lot of possibility.
Ideas, Plan, Board, Write, Revise and World. Six spaces that work together, without telling you how to write.
A world worth getting lost in.
Give characters, places and lore a shared home. Capture a passage from your draft, develop it into a Wiki entry, and keep the route back to its source.

Find the shape of the story.
Arrange books, chapters and scenes. Connect plot beats, follow parallel threads, and set word targets where they belong: beside the plan.

Let ideas find each other.
Move notes freely. Let them overlap, gather into groups, or stay a little messy. Your board is a place to think before you know what comes next.

Stay with the sentence.
A drafting space with rich text, continuous chapters, references and a typewriter feel. Your world is always close at hand.

Catch an idea. Trace a plot. Write a chapter. Review a draft. Follow a character back into the world. Pick up wherever your story needs you.

Free on Mac, forever.
Because the story is yours.
No subscriptions. No accounts. No activation checks. No paid unlocks. The official StoryShape Mac app will stay free.
Once installed, writing, planning and worldbuilding work without an internet connection. Your projects live in files on your computer. There is no story-upload service or automatic telemetry.
And the code is open under the Apache 2.0 license. You can inspect it, build it and make it your own.
